ME 264 Pencil Holder project
ME 264 – Introduction to Manufacturing for Mechanical Design Project – Pencil Holder Fabrication
In ME 264 – Introduction to Manufacturing for Mechanical Design, manufactured a pencil holder from three pieces of laser-cut steel. The build required 12 bends on a sheet metal brake, two rivets, and six spot welds.
Gained hands-on experience with sheet metal fabrication, CNC laser cutting, and forming processes, while learning key concepts like bend allowances, tolerances, and assembly sequencing. Practiced combining multiple joining methods in a single part, focusing on strength and manufacturability. Foundational skills in turning design intent into real, functional parts.
